A large anticyclone starts to shunt eastwards today letting in a north to northwesterly airflow over the South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
There may be some morning cloud then mostly sunny with light winds tending east to northeast. Areas of mid level cloud may affect eastern Northland during the day.
Highs: 25-31

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny with some high cloud,afternoon west to northwesterly winds, chance of an isolated shower about some inland hills / ranges late afternoon or evening otherwise mainly dry.
Highs: 28-31

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds tending east to northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 26-31

Wellington
Any morning cloud clears then mostly sunny with breezy Northerly winds.
High: 23-24

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with north to northwesterly winds picking up from afternoon.
Highs: 27-33

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, east to northeast breezes.
Highs: 29-34

West Coast
Sunny areas and some high cloud, cloud thickens and lowers in the evening about Fiordland bringing the odd light shower. Northerly winds.
Highs: 23-30

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with some increasing high cloud, north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 28-33
