Thursday’s national forecast

In Northland and the Coromandel expect morning rain to ease to showers at times during the afternoon, winds gusty from the southeast. In Auckland expect cloudy skies and the odd shower during the day clearing at night, thick high cloud about Bay of Plenty and in East Cape showers develop in the afternoon.

Mostly cloudy along the east coast with the odd shower in Gisborne and about Hawkes Bay from afternoon. Fine about western Waikato, Taranaki and down along the west coast through to Wellington with high cloud and light winds.

In the South Island expect mostly sunny weather after morning frosts, northeasterlies pick up along the east coast in the afternoon.

Mid teens high’s for most in the North Island tomorrow however along the east coast temperatures only getting to 12 or 13 degrees in the afternoon. 13 to 14 degrees for most in the South Island although a degree or two higher about Southland, Hokitika through to Westport and Nelson.
