A ridge for the upper North Island today, a low slowly moves away to the east from the lower North Island meanwhile a gentle northwesterly airflow gradually develops over the south.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Morning showers clear about Auckland southwards otherwise expect sunny spells with light west to southwesterly winds. An afternoon sea breeze develops about eastern Northland.
Highs: 23-25

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Showers, clearing early to mid afternoon then sunny spells breaking through. West to northwesterly breezes.
Highs: 20-22

Eastern North Island

Areas of cloud and the odd isolated shower, becoming drier during the afternoon with some sun becoming more frequent although the odd shower may not clear till early evening. Light winds.
Highs: 23-26

Wellington

Morning drizzle clears, low cloud or fog breaks to sunny spells in the afternoon. Northerlies develop by midday.
High: 19-20

Marlborough & Nelson

Any early showers clear then becoming mostly sunny by midday, light north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 23-25

Canterbury

Morning cloud or fog breaks to mostly sunny weather, light winds tend easterly in the afternoon.
Highs: 21-23

West Coast

Mostly sunny after any morning cloud breaks away, some cloud and a few showers move into Fiordland from evening. Light west to southwesterly winds, tending more northerly about Fiordland.
Highs: 18-22

Southland & Otago

Mostly sunny after any morning cloud or fog clears, some high cloud increasing from afternoon about Southland, evening for Otago. Overnight rain moves into Southland. North to northwesterly winds for most while winds tend east to northeast about the Otago coast.
Highs: 21-26
