A front brings some rain or showers to the North Island today, mainly the upper North Island. The South Island is settled with a northerly airflow developing from afternoon.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Morning rain possibly heavy then easing to showers which ease during the afternoon, light west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 17-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Early rain eases to the odd shower. Light winds.
Highs: 16-19

Eastern North Island

Morning high cloud clears to a sunny day, cloud thickens again overnight. Light east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-17

Wellington

Mainly sunny with cloud thickening later in the evening. Northerly winds, increasing later in the day.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with north to northwesterly winds from afternoon.
Highs: 15-18

Canterbury

Mostly sunny after any morning cloud clears, a few overnight spots of rain. East to northeasterly winds pick up after midday.
High: 14

West Coast

Mostly cloudy about South Westland, the odd shower clears around midday. North Westland sees a mainly sunny day with some high cloud, cloud thickens evening. Overnight or perhaps more towards dawn on Friday rain moves in with heavy falls. Light winds then northeasterlies pick up from afternoon.
Highs: 14-18

Southland & Otago

Mainly sunny with some high cloud later in the day, northeasterly breezes. Overnight spots of rain.
Highs: 14-16
