Thursday’s national forecast

A high sits out east of New Zealand today while an east to northeasterly airflow flows over the country. The North Island is looking quite cloudy with rain or showers for most regions at least for a time. The South Island does see more sun, some morning cloud in the east breaks away.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle, outside chance of a heavy isolated downpour. Parts of northern Northland may remain fairly dry. Breezy East to Nor’East winds.
Highs: 21-24

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly cloudy with some rain or the odd drizzle patch, east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-22

Eastern North Island

Cloudy with drizzle patches, southeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-18

Wellington

A few morning showers clear, perhaps a sunny area or two breaking through in the afternoon however still plenty of cloud about. Southeasterly winds.
High: 16

Marlborough & Nelson

A few morning showers clear away then sunny areas break through in the afternoon, southeasterly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas, East to Nor’East winds a little breezy about the coast in the afternoon.
Highs: 16-17

West Coast

A mainly sunny day, some morning cloud about Buller clears. Light winds for most.
High: 20

Southland & Otago

Sunny with light winds. East to northeasterly winds a little breezy about coastal Otago in the afternoon however.
Highs: 16-22
