Thursday’s national forecast

A south to southeasterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, cloudy areas in the east with showers meanwhile conditions are sunnier out west. Western parts of the North Island may see isolated showers with the chance of a heavy fall mid afternoon on wards however.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Areas of cloud with breezy Sou’West winds. Isolated showers from mid afternoon with the chance of a heavy fall then clearing during the evening. Winds gradually changing to the southeast by evening for most.
Highs: 17-19

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Morning cloud with the chance of a shower then afternoon sunny areas break through, southeasterly winds.
Highs: 25-17

Eastern North Island

Early rain eases to patchy showers, brisk southerly winds.
Highs: 14-15

Wellington

Morning showers clear, a few sunny areas from afternoon. Brisk southerly winds.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson

Morning cloud with the chance of a shower, afternoon sunny areas. A few isolated showers possible about the northwest Nelson ranges late afternoon / evening. Southerly winds may tend east to northeasterly near the coast in the afternoon.
High: 16-17

Canterbury

Showers clear near the coast early afternoon however the odd one may persist inland till evening. Cool southwesterly winds.
High: 13

West Coast

Mainly sunny with southeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-18

Southland & Otago

A few morning showers clear, fairly cloudy skies for much of the day about Southland however sunny areas develop elsewhere. Southwesterly winds die out around midnight.
Highs: 12-15
