A low pressure system delivering rain to Northland moves away to the east overnight. Expect plenty of high cloud from this system to cover the North Island. The clearest skies look to be on the West Coast of the South Island.

Northland
Rain easing this evening to showers which clear overnight. Southeasterly winds tend more southerly later.
Lows tonight: 7-8

Auckland
The odd shower about northern areas clearing this evening. Cloudy otherwise for everyone else with south to southeasterly breezes.
Low tonight: 6

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Plenty of high cloud about tonight with southeasterly breezes.
Lows tonight: 2-5

Eastern North Island
Cloudy and cool with south to southwest breezes, showers.
Lows tonight: 5-7

Western North Island
Plenty of high cloud tonight which decreases towards dawn, southeasterly breezes. There may be a shower about southern Taranaki towards dawn however.
Lows tonight: 4-6

Wellington
Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, cool gusty southerlies.
Lows tonight: 7-8

Marlborough & Nelson
Mainly clear with some high cloud and light winds, some cloud about southern inland Marlborough however with the odd shower possible.
Lows tonight: 1-3

Canterbury
Cloudy spells with southwest breezes. About Christchurch, Banks Peninsula, and some North Canterbury areas about the hills and ranges expect the odd shower.
Lows tonight: 3-4

West Coast
Mainly clear skies tonight, some high cloud about Buller clears. Light winds.
Lows tonight: 2-3

Southland & Otago
Fairly cloudy skies, the odd shower about Southland and south of about Dunedin on the east coast. Mainly dry elsewhere with clear spells developing inland. South to southwest breezes.
Lows tonight: -2-5
