Conditions are mostly clear and cloud free also with light winds, however watch for the risk of a few mist / fog patches about some inland areas. The South Island sees above average overnight lows with a building northwesterly airflow likely. Skies are relatively clear apart from Fiordland.

New Years day is hot for many, right about coastal parts of the North Island sea breezes keep temperatures a little cooler than inland areas.
