Sunday’s national forecast

A low in the Tasman Sea stretches out over the North Island today bringing in some rain or showers to the far north and for parts of the east coast. A ridge further south brings mainly settled weather, it will be quite cloudy in the east though.

North Island

Risk of a shower this morning for the upper North Island then expect plenty of high cloud, some rain about northern Northland spreads into Auckland during the evening then into Waikato and Bay Of Plenty overnight. Winds from the southeast this morning tending northeast by evening. Mostly cloudy along the east coast, the odd shower about especially for Wairarapa, dry for the lower western North Island with southeasterlies.

South Island

A mostly cloudy day for southern Marlborough down through to North Otago, morning showers clear then some sun may break through later this afternoon or evening. Southerlies tend to the east or northeast this afternoon. The rest of the South Island has mostly sunny conditions.
