Sunday’s national forecast

Upper North Island

Mostly cloudy this morning especially in the west, skies may be clearer in the east with sunny areas. Winds will be light, this afternoon cloud breaking away with sunny spells increasing. Most regions may also experience areas of high cloud during the day.

Lower North Island

Morning cloud in the west breaks to afternoon sunny areas, winds will be light mostly coming in from the westerly quarter. Mostly sunny elsewhere with light winds and some high cloud during the day, any early low cloud burns away. Wellington may see some evening cloud low cloud move in.

Upper South Island

Mostly sunny weather with light winds after any morning low cloud or fog burns away, some morning high cloud clearing away too. On the West Coast expect more frequent areas of cloud with light west to southwest breezes.

Lower South Island

Mostly sunny weather with light winds tending northwesterly about Southland. Any morning low cloud or fog burns away. During the afternoon expect some high cloud to move in. The West Coast once again sees more frequent areas of cloud with westerly quarter winds, overnight cloud thickens about Fiordland with drizzle moving in.
