Sub-tropical low prompts Gisborne rain warning

The government forecaster has issued a rain warning for Gisborne as a large but fairly peaceful sub-tropical low moves down from the north east.

Here is the Metservice rain warning in full:

Heavy Rain Warning, Areas Affected: All of Gisborne:   Rain is expectd to set in this evening in a strong easterly flow. The rain should ease Tuesday afternoon and clear in the evening. In the 24 hours from 6pm Monday to 6pm Tuesday expect 80 to 120mm with the heaiest falls about the ranges north of Gisborne city. Rainfall rates may reach 20mm per hour about the ranges during Tuesday morning.
