Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy areas and the odd shower, more persistent from afternoon then overnight rain. Northwesterly winds.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with a shower or two, rain develops late afternoon / evening as northwesterlies change southeast. Rain eases overnight with snow lowering to 500m.
Highs: 10-15

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with increasing high cloud. Rain moves into Wairarapa in the afternoon then further north later in the evening as northwesterlies change southerly. Snow lowers to 400m overnight for the Wairarapa, 500m about Hawkes Bay.
Highs: 15-18

Wellington
Cloudy, may be a shower then rain from late afternoon as gusty northwesterly winds change southerly. Snow lowers to 400m overnight.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
A dry morning with plenty of high cloud and northwesterly winds, rain develops in the afternoon with a southerly change. Rain may be heavy in the evening then easing and clearing overnight. Snow lowers to 400m before clearing.
Highs: 14-16

Canterbury
Rain, heavy about inland areas then easing from afternoon. Snow to 500m at first, lowering to 300 or possibly 200m in the evening. When snow gets to lower levels precipitation weakens. Cold southerly winds.

West Coast
Morning rain with heavy falls, easing to showers around midday as northwesterlies change southerly then clearing later in the evening.
Highs: 10-12

Southland & Otago
Showers for Southland, clearing in the evening. Snow flurries to low levels (100 to 200m). Otago has morning rain then easing to showers, clearing later in the evening, snow flurries lowering to low levels in the afternoon (200 to 300m). Cold southerly winds.
Highs: 5-7
