Saturday’s national forecast

A large anticyclone east of New Zealand casts a ridge of high pressure over the country today bringing mainly settled weather. While fairly settled not all have dry conditions especially about the northern North Island and southern South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy areas and sun at times, there may be a morning fog patch about Waikato. A few showers about eastern Northland, Great Barrier Island, Coromandel and western Bay Of Plenty then spreading westwards during the afternoon. Starting to dry out in the evening. Easterly winds.
Highs: 14-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning fog possible then sun breaks through, cloud a little more frequent from afternoon bringing the risk of a shower or two otherwise mainly dry. Light west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-16

Eastern North Island
Mainly sunny after any early low cloud clears, light east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-15

Wellington
Mostly sunny with increasing high cloud, Northerly winds.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny, some evening high cloud. Light north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-17

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with developing high cloud, light northeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-14

West Coast
Mostly cloudy about South Westland, the odd shower or drizzle patch south of the Glaciers. Further north expect a mix of mid and high level cloud. Light winds.
Highs: 12-14

Southland & Otago
Mostly cloudy about Southland, may be a few showers or spits of rain at times, light winds. High cloud for Otago, light north to northeast winds.
Highs: 12-14
