Saturday’s national forecast

Not a lot going on over New Zealand today with a slack pressure gradient covering most of the country, an area of low pressure just west of the South Island brings rain to the West Coast however.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny spells, light west to southwesterly winds. Rain moves into Northland overnight.
Highs: 14-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with northwesterly winds, changing southeasterly later in the evening or overnight.
Highs: 10-14

Eastern North Island
Sunny areas and some high cloud, light winds.
Highs: 14-15

Wellington
Sunny areas and some high cloud with north to northwesterly winds.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, light winds tend southerly in the evening bringing mid level cloud.
Highs: 13-15

Canterbury
Some morning sun, cloud from afternoon as light winds tend southwest, late evening or overnight showers possible.
Highs: 10-13

West Coast
Areas of rain, clearing in the evening. Light northeasterly winds.
Highs: 11-12

Southland & Otago
A few morning showers then clearing (mainly about Southland), a mostly cloudy day but there could be some sun before dusk. Light south to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 8-10
