A large low in the Tasman Sea drags down a humid breezy northeasterly airflow over New Zealand today.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Some morning rain (possibly heavy) moves southwards through Northland and Auckland then easing to showers, showers may become heavy with thunderstorms / downpours in the afternoon for Northland. Showers for the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty turning to rain by midday, chance of the odd heavy fall about the Bay Of Plenty then easing there in the evening. Northeasterly winds, a bit blustery at times for Auckland.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with occasional showers, some morning rain for Taranaki then easing. East to northeasterly
winds.
Highs: 18-22

Eastern North Island
Mostly cloudy with a shower or two, mainly up in the ranges. Showers more likely about the coast from evening. Breezy northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-21

Wellington
Mostly cloudy, may be a shower or two. East to Northeasterly winds.
High: 21-22

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly cloudy with showers, some rain for the Nelson area then easing overnight. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-20

Canterbury
Cloudy areas and a shower or two at times, especially inland. East to northeasterly winds, breezy about the coast.
Highs: 18-20

West Coast
Mostly cloudy with occasional showers, North Westland sees long dry spells. Light easterly winds.
Highs: 20-23

Southland & Otago
Sunny areas and some high cloud, isolated showers late afternoon / evening with the chance of a heavy fall and thunder. Coastal Otago is mostly cloudy with the risk of a shower or two otherwise mainly dry. Light winds for most however northeasterlies a bit breezy for coastal Otago.
