Expect showers for the western North Island today as a front pushes through, mainly this morning about the southwestern corner (Taranaki to Kapiti) then this afternoon further north in the west. Showers develop about Wairarapa around midday then the odd one may push further north into Hawkes Bay / Gisborne this evening.

The South Island is fairly dry but the risk of a light shower or two exists about the east coast this afternoon then mainly clearing in the evening. One or two light showers may linger about Canterbury till overnight. The West Coast could see a shower or two also, mainly this afternoon then drying out in the evening.
