Rain and winds have certainly picked up overnight and this morning across parts of the North Island and here are a number of posts from our Facebook page to inform us all what’s happening and where.
Marie comments “Hasnt stopped raining since late last nite in Tauranga, wind and torrential rain today. Awful day”.
Bridget wasn’t seeing a lot fall near her..yet – “Not much here in rural Dannevirke…..the wind is getting up and seems to be getting darker so hopefully its near by”.
Auckland wasn’t missing out either “Rained most of yesterday and most of the night. Still wet here in Auckland. Lots of strong winds too” said Desiree.
Jorgie hasn’t been so impressed “4 mm in south Taranaki and very windy. Very disappointing really, need a good 100 mm”.
Jackie shared a similar story in the province “Not much here..Tikorangi, North Taranaki…4mls…waiting..waiting…”
Across the Mainland and clouds are building in places slowly it appears “fog or low cloud in southland” posted Chantal and Pete from Christchurch said ” Seen some sunshine but clouds creeping in gradually”.
Back up north and the last word from Ashley “Raining in the hills behind Wanganui. A nice welcome home. I think the rain followed me down the Island”.
WeatherWatch belies the rain will slowly head south throughout today and tonight and cover much of the South island throughout tomorrow.

Not too much rain in Whenuapai, 8.4mm yesterday, 4.2mm today and hopefully more to come. Very windy though, 54km/h gusts at midnight and similar throughout the night – but at least there was no tornado this time!!
