Rain comes and goes

Today has been a mixed bag across the country with some rain early this morning for some and yet others saw it this afternnon with the odd area not getting any at all.

Numerous readers on our Facebook page at WeatherWatch.co.nz said the day was certainly changeable compared to previous weeks.

Lisa in the Manawatu said – got soaked in palmy to day its still raining out linton way its pouring i should say.

Melissa on the Kapiti Coast said liquid sunshine had paid a visit – 12mm in kapiti 9am-midday, more steady rain started again 30mins ago already 6mm.

Some were left wanting more – Tiny bit of a drizzle thismorning, no more, wind gusts are picking up now though.. So hope we get decent rain! – Matamata/hinuera.

Auckland saw some rain last night but today it seemed more threatening than delivering –  Only drizzle and really humid in Birkdale, North Shore. Temp at 24 said one poster.

Maddi said skies were overcast down south –  beautiful, light to heavy constant rain since the small hours this morning, under the mountain Mt Domett Waitaki valley north Otago.

Karen Reeves was doing her best to be patient – Well there’s rain falling here in the Hokianga, but it’s very light. Started last night. If it keeps going for another 24 hours it might do some good!

Jo in South Canterbury commented – Persisting down in Timaru!! Wind picking up and fairly sure just heard thunder.

So rain has either attempted to fall or is falling over much of the country and tonight seems a good chance for more than half of us to get a reasonable dollop. We really appreciate all of your comments.

Waitangi Day on Wednesday is looking much brighter with sunshine for many areas as an anticyclone makes another visit so it could be time yet again to slip, slop, slap and wrap.
