Aftershocks reappeared overnight in Canterbury with a 4.35 shake being the strongest tremor just after midnight.
It was centred near Summit Road in Sumner and was 12km deep.
Around 8 o’clock this morning a 3.8 rumbler was centred just after the New Brighton coast and was 11km deep.
Both were enough to wake or remind Cantabrians that the aftershock sequence isn’t quite over yet however there appear to have been longer quieter spells recently.
Two other tremors have also been recorded this morning but below magnitude 3.
No injuries or further damage have been reported as a result of the aftershocks overnight and this morning.
