NZ @ Noon

Nor’westers have picked up over inland areas of the South Island today rather unexpectedly however temperatures across eastern areas have risen as a result.

Timaru is in the mid twenties and parts of Christchurch are near that range and could climb a little further throughout the afternoon.Banks peninsula is also in the mid to high twenties.

A few showers have continued to hang about the Gisborne region, the Coromandel with one or two going across other parts of the Far North.

As forecast the West Coast has seen the most persistent falls today with lighter falls across the Southern Lakes District and one or two showers popping up over isolated areas.

New Zealand hasn’t seen this often lately where some showers are just floating by on an easterly in the north and a northerly just off the Taranaki Coast and much of the western part of the South Island.

Clouds aren’t as prevalent though across all eastern districts of the Mainland with much of North Canterbury, Marlborough and areas over Nelson seeing sunshine. South and Mid Canterbury plus North Otago is cloudier with some light rain inland.

Not a lot of change is expected this afternoon or evening nationwide but some light rain could spill across parts of the Canterbury Plains.
