More rain warnings have been issued for the North Island as a number of very slow moving rain bands move in.

Heavy Rain Warning, Areas Affected: The central North Island hill country from Kawhia, Otorohanga and Tokoroa southwards to Tongariro National Park, including northern and inland Taranaki, and the upper reaches of the Whanganui river Further periods of heavy rain are expected today and early tomorrow. In the 21 hours from 9am Saturday to 6am Sunday, 75-100mm of rain is expected in some places. Heaviest falls are likely about the mountains of Tongariro National Park, the ranges of Pureora Forest Park, and possibly the western hill country between Kawhia and New Plymouth. Rainfall rates may reach 15-20mm/hr at times today.

Heavy Rain Warning, Areas Affected: The hill country of northern Hawkes Bay and southern Gisborne between Mohaka and Gisborne city A period of persistent southerly rain is expected from Sunday afternoon to Monday night or Tuesday morning.
