A ridge lies over the North Island today while a weakening front moves onto the lower South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny spells, chance of a morning shower. The Bay Of Plenty looks to have a mostly sunny day. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 17-19

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud, chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening about the Central North Island otherwise mainly dry. Light winds tend westerly in the afternoon.
Highs: 14-17

Eastern North Island
Morning showers or drizzle clears then some sun breaks through from afternoon, there may be an isolated shower develop in the afternoon about the ranges then clearing in the evening. Light winds.
Highs: 15-16

Wellington
A mix of sun and cloud, northerlies.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson
Mainly sunny with a touch of high cloud, light winds tend north to northwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 16-20

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud. Light east to northeasterly winds near the coast, winds tend northwest inland bringing warmer temperatures.
Highs: 18-21

West Coast
Rain about Fiordland, some drizzle makes its way into South Westland by midday. Areas of precipitation clearing later in the evening. Sunny spells and increasing cloud for North Westland, chance of an evening drizzle patch otherwise mainly dry. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Southland & Otago
Morning rain (more so about Southland, a spot or two about Otago) then some sun breaks through, risk of a further shower late afternoon otherwise remaining fairly dry. Northerlies change southwest early afternoon.
Highs: 14-18
