A front slowly pushes northwards over the North Island on Monday bringing some patchy rain or showers to the west, mainly dry out east. Westerlies for the South Island.
High cloud for the upper North Island with northwesterly winds. The odd patchy shower moves into Waikato around midday then into Auckland late afternoon and Northland in the evening. Winds gradually swing to the west during the day. Morning rain from Taranaki through to Kapiti then easing and clearing by midday, some sun may break through from afternoon but expect plenty of high cloud to hang around. High cloud for the east coast…..a few spots of rain possible about Wairarapa in the morning, Hawkes Bay afternoon then Gisborne by evening.
Rain or showers at times for the West Coast of the South Island with winds from the westerly quarter. Southland and Otago are fairly cloudy, showers at times possibly heavy in the afternoon with hail then easing later in the day. Canterbury and Marlborough has sunny weather in the morning then some cloud from afternoon as winds tend onshore. A few isolated showers may move into Canterbury during the afternoon Banks Peninsula southwards then drying out in the evening.
Nelson has a mostly sunny day with west to northwesterly winds.
Temperatures reaching into the early to mid twenties for Northland down through to Hawks Bay / Gisborne, some places right on the coast may not go any further then the high teens however. The lower / Central North Island sees temperatures in the mid to high teens.
High’s in the high teens or early twenties from Canterbury up through to Nelson in the east. Temperatures in the low to mid teens for the West Coast, Southland and Otago.
