New Zealand is in a way “between systems” at the moment, we currently do have a weak ridge of high pressure but for most there will be cloudy skies and some rain, drizzle or showers about. The sunniest spot is likely to be Southland with northeasterly winds and some high cloud.

Chance of an early sunny spells otherwise expect cloudy periods with light east to southeast winds. A few showers develop mid afternoon.
Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Chance of a sunny spell at first, a period of showers moves into the Central North Island during the morning however then onto the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty mid afternoon onwards. Showers or rain clears from all areas by midnight. East to southeast breezes.
Eastern North Island
Periods of rain clear later in the afternoon. Cloudy skies and east to southeast breezes.
Western North Island
Sunny and cloudy spells with east to southeast winds. A few showers may move through mid to late afternoon, especially about Taranaki where showers could continue into the evening then clearing overnight.
The odd shower or drizzle patch clearing around midday, sunny spells then develop into the afternoon. Easterlies.
Cloudy areas with the chance of a shower now and then, southeasterlies.
