A low continues to sit in the Tasman Sea today drawing in a southeasterly airflow over most of New Zealand although the upper North Island has a northerly airflow.
Upper North Island
Expect a mix of sun and cloud, there could be some fog to start the day also. There may be an isolated shower or two about but plenty of dry spells too. Showers have a slightly higher likely hood towards late afternoon and evening. Afternoon temperatures look to get into the low twenties. Winds are light tending northerly in the afternoon.
Lower North Island
Mostly cloudy weather in the south and east, the odd shower about also but once again many long dry periods. Out west is looking fairly dry with some sun then cloud starts to increase in the afternoon and the odd shower moves in. Winds are from the east or southeast. Afternoon temperatures in the mid teens for Wellington through to Gisborne. Possibly approaching 18 degrees in the afternoon for Taranaki.
Eastern South Island
A mostly cloudy day for the east coast of the South Island through to about South Canterbury or perhaps North Otago, the odd light shower or drizzle patch about with southeasterly winds. Temperatures a bit chilly in the low double figure arena. Inland Otago and Southland see a mix of sun and cloud, mainly dry with temperatures not getting all that warm in the afternoon, still sitting around 11 to 13 degrees.
The West Coast of the South Island has a great day however, just some high cloud at times. Afternoon temperatures in the high teens.
