An anticyclone is centred west of the North Island in the Tasman Sea today directing a west to southwesterly airflow over New Zealand.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Chance of a shower this morning otherwise mainly dry with long sunny spells and some cloud, southwesterly
winds.
Highs: 18-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
May be an early shower then expect mostly sunny weather with west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-17

Eastern North Island
Sunny with light winds, perhaps tending onshore in the afternoon about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.
Highs: 17-20

Wellington
Mostly sunny with northwesterly winds.
High: 16

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with some high cloud possible. West to northwesterly winds for Marlborough, southwesterlies for Nelson.
Highs: 17-19

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud. Northwesterly winds, gusty about inland areas.
Highs: 17-19

West Coast
Cloudy with areas of rain or showers, westerly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Southland & Otago
Cloudy about Southland with showers or some rain at times, clearing at night. Otago has sunny areas and some high cloud. West to northwesterly winds, strong about coastal Southland.
Highs: 14-17
