A ridge lies over the North Island today while a northerly airflow increases over the South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny with light winds and afternoon sea breezes, isolated showers possible late afternoon / evening. Showers may even become heavy for some especially about inland Bay Of Plenty where there is the risk of a thunderstorm any of which ease later in the day.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny with light winds, afternoon sea breezes near the coast. Cloud may build a little in the afternoon especially inland with the low risk of an isolated shower.
Highs: 14-16
 
Eastern North Island
Morning cloud with showers Hawkes Bay northwards easing, mostly clearing by afternoon and sunny areas breaking through. A few isolated showers possible about the ranges of Hawkes Bay and more so Gisborne from late afternoon. Southerlies tend easterly this afternoon.

Wellington
Mostly sunny with light winds, afternoon sea breezes.
High: 14
 
Marlborough & Nelson
Mainly sunny with north to northeasterly winds this afternoon.
Highs: 15-16
 
Canterbury
Sunny, east to northeasterly winds becoming brisk this afternoon especially about the coast.
Highs: 15-16
 
West Coast
Sunny areas and some gradually increasing cloud, chance of a light shower or two mainly afternoon onwards. North to northeasterly winds gradually increase. Gusty about coastal Fiordland.

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with northerly winds, some high cloud from late afternoon / evening. About coastal Otago northeasterly winds become quite gusty this afternoon.
Highs: 15-20
