A northwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today. Mainly dry for much of the country although patchy showers or drizzle is likely for North and South Westland. Warm temperatures out east.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny spells, cloud may be thicker for a time this morning especially in the west. Breezy west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 17-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Sunny spells with west to northwesterly winds.
High: 17-20

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny, a touch of high cloud a times. Northwesterly breezes generally although afternoon northeasterlies about coastal Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.
Highs: 23-24

Wellington

Sunny spells with brisk north to northwesterly winds.
High: 18

Marlborough & Nelson

Plenty of high cloud, some occasional sun possible. Northwesterly winds for Marlborough, gusty this afternoon. Nelson sees gusty westerlies ease this morning then winds tend north to northwest by midday.
Highs: 20-24

Canterbury

Plenty of high cloud. Northwesterly winds, gusty at times especially this afternoon.
Highs: 22-23

West Coast

Patchy showers or drizzle for most although drier about Buller with some sun. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-20

Southland & Otago

Plenty of high cloud, gusty northwesterly winds may tend southwest for a time this afternoon near the Otago coast.
Highs: 20-23
