Monday’s national forecast

A fairly intense high sits just east of New Zealand today bringing mainly settled weather, meanwhile a northeasterly airflow is developing and slowly spreading over the country. High cloud pushes into the west of the North Island, cloud becomes a little thicker and lower as the day goes on for some eastern areas, eastern Northland for example.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny areas and some high cloud with east to northeasterly winds, fairly breezy about Northland. A chance of fog to start the day mainly inland. Cloud thicker and lower for eastern Northland, northern parts of Auckland and the Coromandel afternoon onwards where there may be a light shower now and then.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny although expect some high cloud, especially the further west one goes. Winds from the east or southeast.
Highs: 12-15
 
Eastern North Island
A mainly sunny although a little cloud starts to move in from afternoon, south to southeasterly breezes.
High: 15
 
Wellington
Cloudy areas with south to southeasterly winds.
High: 14
 
Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny after a cold start, light winds may tend east to northeast this afternoon. There may be a touch of high cloud, more so the further west one goes.
High: 14
 
Canterbury
Sunny, light winds tend east to northeast this afternoon.
High: 11-12
 
West Coast
Mainly sunny with light winds tending easterly, perhaps a touch of high cloud.
Highs: 13-14
 
Southland & Otago
Mainly sunny weather, light east to northeast breezes for most after a cold start. East to northeast winds picking up a tad in the afternoon about coastal Otago.
Highs: 9-12
