A front moves over the North Island today while a ridge slowly spreads onto the South.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Areas of cloud, showers especially late morning or around midday (possible heavy) then easing as westerly winds change gusty southwest. Most showers clear by evening.
Highs: 22-23

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Showers mostly clearing away this morning, a few further showers possible afternoon / evening otherwise mostly dry. A few sunny areas breaking through at times. South to southeasterly winds develop this morning however perhaps not pushing into the Central North Island till evening.
Highs: 18-21

Eastern North Island

High cloud at first, southerlies hit the Wairarapa early this morning and reach Gisborne by midday. With southerly winds comes cloudier skies, cooler temperatures and showers, perhaps periods of rain for some then easing this evening.
Highs: 21-22

Wellington

Cloudy areas and occasional sun, any early showers clear. Breezy southerly winds.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly cloudy about Marlborough, sunny areas for Nelson although cloud does build a little after midday. Chance of a shower or two mainly this afternoon. East to southeasterly winds for Marlborough, winds may tend northeasterly this afternoon for Nelson.
Highs: 15-18

Canterbury

Patchy showers or drizzle, mostly clearing this afternoon but a few drizzle patches may linger till evening. Cool Southerly winds.
High: 14

West Coast

Mostly sunny with gentle southwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Southland & Otago

Cloudy areas about Southland with westerly winds, a few showers about mostly this morning then clearing away. Mostly sunny for Otago with west to southwesterly winds dying out this evening.
Highs: 15-16
