Monday’s national forecast

A southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today moving around a high which is centred in the Tasman Sea. A front breaks up a little west of the North Island while another front flicks past the lower South Island this afternoon.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas, chance of a shower otherwise mostly dry. Morning cloud about the Waikato and Bay Of Plenty breaks to sunny areas. Westerly winds tending a little more southwesterly by midday.
Highs: 24-25

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Morning cloud with the chance of a shower then breaking to a few sunny areas this afternoon, westerly winds.
Highs: 22-23

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny weather, light winds tend southerly this afternoon.
Highs: 23-25

Wellington

Morning sun, winds tend southerly late morning bringing some cloud for a time.
High: 19

Marlborough & Nelson

Marlborough has mostly sunny weather with southerlies for a time this morning then tending east to northeast this afternoon. Nelson sees sunny weather with light winds tending Northerly this afternoon.
Highs: 20-21

Canterbury

Drizzle clearing around midday then cloud breaking to some sun, Southerlies tend Easterly around midday.
High: 16

West Coast

Morning cloud and the odd shower breaks to mostly sunny weather, southwesterly winds. A few showers push into Fiordland from midday however.
Highs: 18-19

Southland & Otago

Sunny areas, a few showers passing through in the afternoon about Southland and perhaps southeastern parts of Otago. Breezy west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-18
