A high sitting east of New Zealand influences New Zealand’s weather today bringing mainly settled and sunny conditions, a front is brewing in the Tasman Sea however and we see signs of this in some parts of New Zealand from this afternoon in the form of high cloud.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny with some high cloud this afternoon about Northland and Auckland, light east to northeast winds. Some cloud about the Northland coastline in the east may see a light shower or two from this afternoon.
Highs: 12-14

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

A mainly sunny day with light winds tending northeasterly.
Highs: 10-12

Eastern North Island

A sunny day with light northeasterlies after any early cloud clears.
Highs: 11-12

Wellington

Sunny with light winds tending northeasterly this afternoon.
High: 11

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with light winds after a frosty start.
Highs: 10-12

Canterbury

Sunny with light winds tending northeasterly. Some high cloud late in the day or overnight.
High: 9

West Coast

Sunny with light winds, a cold start especially inland. Some cloud from late afternoon or evening.
Highs: 10-11

Southland & Otago

Mostly sunny with some increasing high cloud, northeasterly winds.
Highs: 5-9
