Monday’s national forecast

A ridge brings mainly settled weather to the North Island today, some cloud for western areas mainly this morning. The South Island is dry and mostly sunny in the east, cloudier out west with rain in Fiordland moving north in the afternoon and evening.

Sunny spells with light south to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 19-20

Auckland

Cloudy periods with sunny spells, sunny spells more likely in the afternoon. Light southwesterlies.
Highs: 18-19

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Mostly sunny with light winds, some morning low cloud
breaks away about the Waikato and Central North Island.

Highs: 17-19

Eastern North Island

Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 18-19

Taranaki

Morning cloud clears breaks to sunny spells, southwesterly winds.
High: 17

Western North Island

Morning cloud clears to a mostly sunny day, light northwesterlies.
High: 18

Wellington

Perhaps some morning cloud with light southerlies otherwise mostly sunny,
winds tend northerly from midday.
Highs: 16-17

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 18-20

Canterbury

Mostly sunny after any early cloud clears, light winds tending northwest
inland. Some high cloud about.
Highs: 17-19

West Coast

Mostly cloudy with rain developing about Fiordland this morning, heavy
falls at times after midday. Patchy rain spreading furth north afternoon and
evening.
Highs: 14-15

Coastal Otago

Sunny areas and some increasing high cloud, northerly winds. A few spots of
rain later in the evening.
High: 17

Southland & Central Otago

Sunny spells and thickening high cloud, spells of rain at times from late
afternoon. West to northwest winds.
Highs: 15-16
