InfoGraphic: The Big Picture on Wednesday

Settled for much of the country on Wednesday however a front weaves it’s way onto the west of the North Island in the afternoon which may bring a heavy fall or two. The airflow is generally from the west.

Northland has sunny areas and some cloud, overnight some rain moves in from the west. Auckland, Waikato and the Bay Of Plenty are mainly cloudy with the odd shower about. Taranaki and the Central North Island see the odd shower, rain from afternoon possibly heavy then easing in the evening.

Mostly sunny along the east coast (Gisborne to Wairarapa) with some high cloud, light winds. A few spots of rain possible later in the evening. Wellington sees the chance of an early shower then sunny spells develop, northwesterly winds.

Mostly sunny for the east coast of the South Island, a touch of high cloud for some at times. The West Coast sees mainly sunny skies in the north however cloud builds in the south with rain moving onto Fiordland in the afternoon then moving a little further northwards in the evening. There is a chance this rain may be heavy but at this stage is looking to be more regular falls.

Southland and Otago see mostly sunny weather, there is the low risk of a shower late afternoon with some cloud as light westerlies tend a little more southwest.

Not all regions and towns have been mentioned above. For specific 10 day information for your city, town, rural community or island please see the 1000 forecasts on our homepage!
