Anticyclonic for most on Thursday morning however a slow moving front brings some rain about the upper North Island in the morning with the chance of a heavy fall or two. A northerly airflow then increases over New Zealand from afternoon / evening.

For the upper North Island, mostly cloudy skies with morning rain and a few heavy falls then easing to showers by midday, northwesterly breezes. Northerland sees just a few showers during the day.

Mainly sunny for the lower North Island apart from a rouge shower possible in the west.

The South Island has a mainly sunny day for most, from evening however cloudy builds in the west then rain moves in towards dawn on Friday with heavy falls. Northeasterlies also strengthen about coastal Fiordland.
