InfoGraphic: The Big Picture for Saturday / Sunday

A large anticyclone slowly weakens on Saturday with a northerly airflow developing over the South Island. Northerlies strengthen over the country on Sunday with a cold front moving onto the South Island in the evening.

A mix of sun and cloud for most of the North Island on Saturday, some inland areas may see isolated showers late afternoon / evening, perhaps the chance of a downpour / thunderstorm then clearing at night. Morning cloud breaks for the eastern South Island then mostly sunny with some high cloud, some cloud and a light shower or two for the West Coast, long dry periods also.

Areas of cloud and the odd shower for most of the western / upper North Island on Sunday, showers may not affect Auckland till later in the evening. Mainly sunny along the east coast. Cloudy for the West Coast of the South Island with rain, becoming heavy in the evening. High cloud out east with northerlies becoming breezy.
