An anticyclone brings mainly settled weather to New Zealand today, a similar story again on Tuesday however a weakening front pushes northwards over the South Island during the day.

A mostly sunny day for the North Island, just a few showers affecting Northland especially in the east. Some cloud about Kapiti also gradually spreading northwards into Taranaki during the day. The South Island is mainly sunny also however expect some cloud about the far south, a few spots of rain possible about Southland from afternoon.

Mostly sunny for the North Island again on Tuesday, some cloud for Northland and about the lower western North Island. The West Coast of the South Island is mostly cloudy with the odd shower, heavy rain spreads northwards for South Westland during the day. Hot and dry out east however expect morning rain then easing to showers and sunny spells for Southland and Otago.
