A weakening front pushes northwards over the South Island today meanwhile a west to southwesterly airflow flows over the North Island. Mainly anticyclonic on Tuesday with settled and hot weather.

Some cloud for the western North Island this morning, perhaps a shower also for Taranaki through to Kapiti then clearing. Sunny and hot out east, perhaps getting into the mid thirties for inland parts of Gisborne / Hawkes Bay. Rain eases to showers this morning for the South Island’s West Coast, some sun starts to break through from afternoon about South Westland. Morning rain clears Southland and Otago then sun develops, Mostly sunny and hot for Canterbury through to Nelson in the east, high’s may reach into the mid thirties for some inland parts of Canterbury and Marlborough.

A hot day in store once again for Tuesday, mostly sunny for the North Island but there may be some morning cloud in the west. The South Island is mainly sunny also but once again a few areas of morning cloud are possible especially for coastal areas. Winds are light then tending onshore in the afternoon. Afternoon temperatures may get near the mid thirties for parts of Waikato through to inland Taranaki.
