An anticyclone in the Tasman Sea directs a fresh west to southwesterly airflow over New Zealand today and on Tuesday.

Some cloud for the western North Island today, a shower or two also mainly Waikato southwards. Drier in the east with some high cloud and warm temperatures. Some rain or showers for the western and southern South Island today, spreading into Otago for a time. Canterbury through to Nelson has sun and some high cloud, some mid level cloud moves into Canterbury this afternoon with southerlies.

Some cloud once again for the western North Island on Tuesday, mainly dry this time around. Sunnier out east with warm temperatures. Rain or showers for the West Coast of the South Island, morning showers about Southland clear then mostly sunny. Mostly sunny for Canterbury, Marlborough and Nelson.
