Friday’s national forecast

Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
Sunny skies with southerly breezes, winds tend a little more southwest about the Waikato and Auckland coastline in the west in the afternoon and this may bring a few clouds to these areas, southwesterlies could be breezy for a time. Light winds about the Waikato and CNI with sunny skies, the BOP will see sea breezes in the afternoon.

East of the North Island
Mostly sunny with northeasterly breezes, a few clouds at times. In the evening southerlies pick up bringing some overnight cloud.
Highs: 23-25
 
Wellington & Western North Island
Sunny skies with northerly breezes easing around midday. Winds tend southerly during the afternoon. There may be some cloud develop overnight mainly about Wellington.
Highs: 21-25
 
Marlborough, Nelson
Sunny with light winds, afternoon sea breezes for Nelson. Evening southerly winds begin to develop about eastern Marlborough with some cloud overnight.
Highs: 22-25
 
Canterbury
Sunny weather with light winds at first, southerly breezes develop around late morning with skies still remaining mostly sunny. Not till later in the evening does cloud begin to increase and this brings the risk of an overnight drizzle patch, overall remaining fairly dry still.

West Coast
Sunny areas and some cloud, cloud mainly about morning and night. Southwesterly breezes.
Highs: 20-21
 
Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny skies at first, mid morning southerly breezes develop about Southland then pushing into Otago around late morning. Weather still remaining fairly sunny however a few areas of cloud building up about coastal areas and thickening late afternoon or evening.
