A northwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, a cold front moves onto the lower South Island this afternoon reaching the upper North Island overnight.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy areas, a shower or two at times. The Bay Of Plenty stays mainly dry. Westerly winds.
Highs: 14-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with a shower or two, long dry periods too. West to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-14

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Wellington
Cloudy areas, increasing northwesterly winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with increasing high cloud, overnight spots of rain for Nelson and inland Marlborough towards the west. West to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-17

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, late evening spots of rain possible. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-16

West Coast
Rain, becoming heavy in the evening about South Westland then further north overnight. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-13

Southland & Otago
Mostly cloudy about Southland, showers develop in the afternoon as northwester lies tend westerly. Winds change southerly later in the evening. For Otago expect high cloud, some rain develops in the evening then northwest winds change southerly overnight.
Highs: 11-15
