A cold southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning showers may be heavy then gradually easing with some sun breaking through from afternoon. Conditions becoming mainly dry in the evening however the odd shower still moving into western Northland and Auckland at times. Gusty southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Showers, clearing in the evening. Snow flurries to 700m. Cold southwesterly winds ease later in the day.
Highs: 11-14

Eastern North Island
Early showers clear to some sun, another period of showers moves through late afternoon / early evening. Cool southwesterly winds, fresh from afternoon then easing evening.
Highs: 13-14

Wellington
Showers, clearing late afternoon. Gusty southerly winds.
High: 11

Marlborough & Nelson
Some morning cloud then mostly sunny about Marlborough, high cloud later in the evening. Nelson has a sunny day. Southwest breezes die out late afternoon.
Highs: 13-14

Canterbury
Morning showers and snow flurries to 500m then clearing and sun breaks through, gusty southwesterly winds die out in the evening.
Highs: 8-10

West Coast
Sunny or becoming sunny early morning, cloud starts to drift in from afternoon gradually thickening then expect late evening or overnight showers. Southwesterlies pick up later in the day.
Highs: 10-12

Southland & Otago
Mostly cloudy for Southland with the risk of a shower, westerlies becoming strong after midday. Otago sees morning cloud and any showers clear to afternoon sun and some high cloud, early south to southwesterly winds then afternoon northwesterlies.
Highs: 10-12
