Friday’s national forecast

A slight south to south west flow covers New Zealand today with disintegrating fronts leaving areas of showers behind in both main islands.

Temperatures will be down a little bit today for some areas too, although the very north and North Island’s east are likely to remain fairly hot. Hawke’s Bay may reach 30 degrees today.

Inland and eastern Northland will be hotter today compared to yesterday with highs in the late 20s.

But it will be cooler today in Southland and Otago with highs in the teens.

Showers may affect a number of regions, both western and eastern coastlines and both main islands. In saying that, most areas look fairly dry overall.

Highs: 14 to 30
