Friday’s national forecast

Anticyclonic conditions for most of New Zealand today bringing mainly settled weather, a few showers about some coastal fringes however.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny or becoming sunny this morning for most, any early fog or mist clears, light southerly winds. Northland however sees a few morning showers (especially in the west) then becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon.
Highs: 13-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mainly sunny day, there may be some cloud at times about the ranges to the east. Light winds.
Highs: 10-13

Eastern North Island
Generally speaking expect mostly sunny conditions (especially about the likes of Hawkes Bay, tucked in away from more exposed areas). About coastal Wairarapa, Mahia Peninsula and perhaps Gisborne some cloud may bring a shower or two at times. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 12-13

Wellington
Mostly sunny with southerly breezes, cloud a little more prominent in the east (towards Wairarapa) with the risk of a shower or two at times otherwise mainly dry.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 10-13

Canterbury
Mainly sunny with light winds, early cloud about Kaikoura breaks away.
Highs: 9-12

West Coast
A mainly sunny day, there may be some high cloud at times. Light winds.
Highs: 9-13

Southland & Otago
Cloudy areas about Southland and coastal Otago, there may be a shower or two also mainly in the morning, some sun may break through in the afternoon. Inland Otago sees morning cloud break to sunny spells. Light westerly quarter winds.
Highs: 7-10
