Friday’s national forecast

A front moves northwards over the South Island this morning and afternoon, reaching the lower North Island afternoon / evening. With it comes cool southerlies, cloud and perhaps some drizzle. Much of the North Island has a resonable day today as does the West Coast of the South Island.

Auckland & Northland
Sunny areas and some cloud, chance of an isolated shower or two about the place otherwise dry. Light southerlies this morning tend more southwest this afternoon.

Waikato, Central North Island & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny areas and a few clouds about, light winds mostly then tending
southeasterly later in the evening.
Highs: 24-26

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny weather with light northeasterlies, winds tend more easterly
in the afternoon then southerly overnight with increasing cloud. Southerlies
actually move into the Wairarapa by mid afternoon however with some cloud and
the chance of a light shower.
Highs: 23

Western North Island

Mostly sunny weather, an afternoon southeasterly change brings some cloud.
Southeasterlies don’t pick up about Taranaki till late afternoon / evening,
skies should remain relatively clear. About Kapiti and southern Taranaki
southeasterly winds when they do move through will be quite gusty.

Wellington

Mostly sunny in the morning, northerlies change brisk to strong southerly
early afternoon bringing increasing cloud.
High: 20

Nelson

Sunny with light winds in the morning then afternoon northeasterly
winds.
Highs: 23-24

Marlborough

Sunny at first, a few clouds drift in from midday as southeasterly winds
pick up but still plenty of sun about, winds becoming strong about the outer
Sounds PM. Cloud becoming thicker from afternoon about southern Marlborough with
drizzle possible there from evening,
Highs: 23-25

Canterbury

Cloudy or becoming cloudy this morning with southerly winds pushing through the region.
Drizzle patches possible.
High: 17

West Coast

Mostly sunny with south to southeasterly winds, picking up in the
afternoon. Some morning cloud and a few showers affect Fiordland then
clearing.
Highs: 20-22

Coastal Otago

Mostly cloudy with breezy southwesterlies, chance of a morning
shower.
High: 14

Central Otago

Morning cloud with the chance of a shower or two, sunny areas develop in
the afternoon. Southerly winds.
High: 18

Southland

Cloudy weather with the chance of a morning drizzle patch, southerlies tend
southeast in the afternoon.
High: 14
