The last 12 hours have seen some fairly disruptive and unsettled weather in some parts of the country, with flooded rivers, downed power lines and travel disruptions in both islands.

They were stormy conditions, without an actual storm system in place – as the country was squeezed between two large high pressure systems either side of us.
