A cold front will zip up New Zealand this weekend with temperatures dropping behind it.

Some parts of the South Island will slip from being in the late 20s or around 30 degrees, to the early teens.

The North Island is mostly dry on Saturday but this front moves northwards on Sunday bringing a few downpours along the way.

By Monday AM most of NZ will be cooler and less humid.
