Wednesday night’s national forecast

A ridge keeps things fairly calm over the North Island tonight although winds about Wellington will be brisk from the north. For the South Island cloud and westerly winds build in the west and about the alps. Calmer in the east with some high cloud and light winds nearer the coast.

Mainly clear skies overnight with light winds tending southerly, areas of
cloud about this evening clear.

Auckland

Clear spells and some cloud with southwesterlies easing this evening, light
winds overnight.
Tonight’s lows: 14-15

Central North Island, Waikato
& Bay Of Plenty

Mainly clear skies with light westerly quarter breezes overnight, some
cloud towards dawn about the Central North Island in the west. The Bay Of Plenty
sees areas of cloud clearing this evening with northerlies easing there.
Tonight’s lows: 10-14

Eastern North Island

Mainly clear skies with sea breezes easing this evening. Winds tend
northwest overnight, brisk about the Wairarapa.
Tonight’s lows: 14-16

Western North Island

Mainly clear with a few clouds about, especially towards dawn. West to
northwest breezes.
Tonight’s lows: 13-14

Wellington

Mainly clear skies with some cloud possible towards dawn, brisk
northerlies.
Tonight’s low: 16

Nelson

Mainly clear skies, northerlies ease this evening.
Tonight’s lows: 15-16

Marlborough

Clear skies with northwesterly breezes.
Tonight’s lows: 14-15

Canterbury

Clear skies this evening, high cloud develops overnight. Light winds near
the coast and increasing northwesterlies about the foothills.

West Coast

Cloudy increasing tonight with the odd drizzle patch developing overnight,
some rain about Fiordland. Westerly winds.
Tonight’s low: 14

Coastal Otago

Some high cloud, increasing overnight. Light winds tend northwesterly this
evening.
Tonight’s lows: 14-15

Central Otago

Increasing high cloud with westerly breezes, some rain towards dawn
tomorrow morning.
Tonight’s lows: 12-13

Southland

Some high cloud with breezy northwesterly winds. A change to westerlies
around dawn tomorrow with showers.
Tonight’s lows: 13-14
