Weather unfolding as planned – it’s warm!

The weather around the country today is mainly warm and sunny, a few areas are getting into the hot category which means in the high 20’s and above.

Here are some temperature readings provided by readers around the country today.

Kent Irving says, “28 at Dunedin Airport, and I’m blo#$dy working in it”. Fair enough Kent and with hot temperatures like that it can make working a bit uncomfortable. Interestingly the temperature is sitting on about 18-20 degrees in eastern suburbs due to a NE sea breeze.

Temperatures are ranging from 27 to 30 degrees in Canterbury, there are even reports of high’s in the low 30’s about Amuri in North Canterbury. Christchurch however is catching the northeast breeze as usual and is sitting between 23 and 25 degrees.

Keep a watch out for later this afternoon or evening as winds will swing to the northwest and there may be a boost in temperatures around then for a brief time before the sun loses its intensity.

Helen Davies mentions, “Just hit 30 degrees here in South Wairarapa” around midday.

Aucklanders are experiencing high’s of 22 to 25 degrees. Ron Cribb says, “25 out West Auckland”.

Tomorrow should be another warm day in the east of both Islands however the weather will start closing in out west.
