- The risk area covers a large chunk of the North Island, epecially the upper half and inland.
- The risk of morning fog and low cloud is higher than usual in interior regions in the North Island for the next several days, especially where the moist air is trapped by the local topography.
- The North Island will become sunnier from tomorrow.
- Higher than usual temperatures dominate with some areas in eastern part of the North Island and inland (like King Country) reaching 30C.

However, is this functionality being released to the public, as the rain radar on their site is rubbish and only lets you zoom into the top of the north island, rather than zoom into a major city like Auckland.
Is there any way Weatherwatch would be able to broadcast these zoom in radars?

Hi there, tax payers fund the rain radars that MetService then block us all from accessing. This is why the NZ Government has just released an official report saying we are the only country in the western world to block and limit this data. If we had access to tax funded data yes we could create much higher resolution maps, with zooming functions and street names etc. But until the Government makes a change MetService sales people will continue to have privileged access to this data that is supposed to be 100% open according to the Commerce Commission. We hope Minister Megan Woods does the right thing – as it doesn’t have to cost the taxpayer a cent and could hugely improve products around severe weather like today if there was open access to data the tax payers fund.
